I am very disapointed at the performance of this locomotive. When I got it, it would always derail at turnouts. After a bit of research I learned Bachmann had some quality controls issues and some of theor first-runs were out of gauge. I checked it with my NMRA gauge and it was about a millimeter out. So I shipped it back.
They sent me a replacement and after about three hours of run-time it throws a drive rod. I mananged to snap it ack on, but it is just a matter of time before it comes off again.
I would seriously consider overlooking this product if you are in the market for a high-end steam locomotive. It seems I am going to have more transit time in sending it in for repairs that I am going to have actual running time. _________________ "People wait for trains.
